Dr. Paul Roettges is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon. He attended University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA, where he completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology. Dr. Roettges continued his educational training and received his medical degree from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, IL. He went on to complete an Orthopedic Surgery residency at University of Arizona, Banner University Medical Center, in Tucson, AZ. Following his residency, he completed a fellowship in Adult Hip and Knee Reconstruction at the renowned Mayo Clinic in his hometown of Jacksonville, FL.
Dr. Roettges has spent his career perfecting the direct anterior total hip replacement. This minimally invasive, muscle sparing approach to hip replacement leads to quicker recovery and improved patient outcomes, allowing most patients to go home the same day as surgery. He now incorporates the latest cutting-edge technology of computer assistance into each hip replacement to further personalize implant position and sizing for each patient.

This was my final visit after having both hips replaced this year. My life has changed dramatically. I had no problems with either hip other than normal surgery recovery. Approximately a year & a half ago I first saw Dr. Roettges for my right knee issue, meniscus torn at both ends. Dr. Roettges looked at the MRI / X-Rays and determined that a cortisone / gel shot would do the trick, and that's what I received. I pre-registered online and the process to check -in at the office was easy. I did have a long wait in the waiting area, but once I was brought to the exam room, Dr Paul's review and checking of my knee was done professionally and we discussed what was obvious on the x-ray and scheduled a n MRI for soft tissue examination which eventually show a torn meniscus. We are taking a slow approach, starting with an injection and possible scope in the future. I am learning PT exercises to strengthen mu knee and we will go from there. Dr Roettges listens, takes time to care about what his patient is saying. I would definitely recommend him to others. He has done Gelson (hyleuron) knee injection that give me relief for about 1.5 years (I’ve been having them for 4 years) and in two weeks he will be doing a minimally invasive hip replacement. He took the time to explained everything very well. I am in complete trust of Dr Roettges. I will write another review after the surgery!
He did a hip replacement on me using the most minimal method 7cm incision down the front of my thigh. The procedure went well and I went home the same day! I highly recommend Dr Roetgges!

I went to a hip specialist about a year ago, and was told I needed a hip replacement, due to bone-on-bone arthritis, and a bone spur. I procrastinated a whole year until the pain was so unbearable I had trouble walking. I'd never really had any major surgeries before, and I kept thinking I could 'fix it.' It was then that I scheduled an appt. with Dr. Roettges, and I'm so grateful I did! After my first appointment with him, I scheduled the surgery right then, that's how confident I felt about his capability. He took his time explaining this less invasive procedure, and my surgery was done as an in/out patient. Two hours after surgery I was walking and doing stairs, and went home about an hour later. My new hip is about a month old, and my previous groin and hip pain is completely gone. I had an aching knee from running in 2018. I visited the office on county rd 210 and met with Dr. McClone. He helped me stay running for a while but eventually I met with Dr. Kasraeian and looked at the option of scoping my knee. It helped but eventually I spoke with Dr. Roettges about a knee replacement. I had the surgery in February 2020. Last week on March 20, 2021 I ran the River Run. I'm 71 years old and came in 20th out of around 80 other runners in my age group. Not bad for an old guy running 9 plus miles. I would recommend Orthopaedic Associates Of St. Augustine to anyone with who is having any kind of orthopaedic problems.
