Dr. Michael Robinson is a board-certified fellowship-trained orthopedic joint replacement surgeon with a focus on hips and knees. Dr. Robinson attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City for both his undergraduate and medical doctorate degrees. He then went on to the Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii for his surgical internship. After completing his internship, he attended the Naval Aviation Medical Institute where he was designated a Naval Flight Surgeon. Following this training and a tour as a flight surgeon, Dr. Robinson completed his residency in orthopedic surgery and subspecialty fellowship in adult reconstruction and joint replacement.
Dr. Robinson has proudly served in the Navy for the past 21 years, retiring at the rank of Captain. He served as Department Head of Orthopedic Surgery at the NATO Role 3 Multinational Medical Unit in Kandahar, Afghanistan and the Naval Hospital Jacksonville. He was selected and served two years as the Chief Medical Officer at Naval Hospital Jacksonville. Dr. Robinson has received multiple awards for his service, including a Meritorious Service Medal and two Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals.
In his free time, Dr. Robinson likes to run, mountain bike and attend his children’s activities.

Dr. Robinson performed the Mako Robotic Surgery on my right knee and the results were great. Today I saw him about my left knee, which has some other issues and he is willing to do the same surgery on this knee. About 3 1/2 years ago, I met with Dr. Robinson. He was as nice as he could be. Felt comfortable speaking to him he advised that I should get knee replacement surgery. I tried to avoid it for 3 1/2 years, was getting shots. Reality kicked in And got the operation. It was the best thing I could’ve done on both knees, two months apart. Dr Robinson helped me address a long-term hip issue that plagued me for 2yrs (injury from soccer). I was not able to run or sit without being in constant pain. I’d seen drs prior to no avail. I've known Dr. Robinson for 5 years when he was practicing in active duty status with the U.S. Navy. He since retired from the service, and when I heard that he was practicing locally I seeked him out. He is a knowledgeable, experienced and skilled orthopedic doctor. He completed a total knee replacement of my right knee 5 years ago, and so far it's doing very well. Currently, I'm having problems with my left knee that suffered the same fate and requiring a replacement as well. I had my first appointment with him today, he was as thorough as I remembered him. He spent time evaluating my joint, and what caused me pain. He provided explanations, various options and approach from holistic, medications and lastly surgery. Dr. Robinson was my orthopedic doctor at Naval Air Station Jacksonville and is still my doctor. It was he who insisted that I remain in the hospital to be further evaluated after his assistant wanted to send me home after I complained of difficulty breathing. Went in for right hip problem’s after being replaced 3.5 years ago. X-rays taken before I saw dr for the first time. He reviewed them before he came in. He noticed problems with my lower back more than my rt hip. After 3.5 years never NEVER once did the other surgical place mention anything about my back. A year after a total knee replacement, I am doing 95% of the things that I want to do. Walking, biking, working out and pickleball are pain free. Kneeling is problematic but I have developed a work around. After an hour sitting in a movie theater or at a play my knee needs to be straightened to relieve discomfort. Dr Robinson saved my mom’s life. She had knee surgery done elsewhere and it failed. They said there was nothing they could do. She declined so much PCP suggested Hospice.
