Dr. Kurtis Hort is a board certified, and fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in complex procedures of the foot and ankle. He received his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Hort completed a residency at the University of Florida Health Science Center in Jacksonville, FL, prior to his fellowship in Lower Extremity Reconstruction and Complex Foot and Ankle Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL. He has a deep understanding of complex wound care management, giving him the ability to treat severe wounds effectively through advanced grafting procedures to help minimze complications, promote faster healing and give his patiens better long-term outcomes.
Dr. Hort is a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, a member of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, the Duval County and St. Johns County medical societies and many more prestigious organizations. Foot surgery earlier this morning and just arrived home. Everything went smoothly at Ascension St Vincent Hospital with Dr Hort performing the surgery. Dr Hort recently fixed my torn meniscus in my left knee on Sept 6th. Even upon the initial meeting, I felt very comfortable with Dr Hort. His confidence and caring demeanor allowed me to relax a bit with my first ever surgery. Dr Hort wears a bracelet referencing John 10:10. Dr Hort is here to help you and will fulfill that promise. I brought my dad who is 88 to see Dr Hort because we were really frustrated with 3 doctors in the villages not being able to identify what was the source of my dad’s foot pain. Dr Hort and his team quickly did a couple of X-rays and Dr Hort completed a thorough examination and found the root cause of the pain in just one office visit. He recommended a fairly simple surgery to resolve the issue .it was such a relief to learn that Dr Hort can fix this for my dad. This is the second time I have gone to Dr Hoyt for help. His expertise and technical skills, compassion and empathy for his patients is why I would recommend going to Dr Hort and why I keep going back to him. He is the best orthopedic doctor around. Dr Hort fixed a broken bone in my lower leg. He was able to do this with very minimal surgical pain and several office vIsits where he instructed me on what was permitted and what to avoid. I had terrible bunions on my feet. So bad, in fact, that almost all shoes hurt within an hour of wearing them. My friend had them too (not nearly as bad as mine) and swore by Dr. Hort.
