Dr. David Remias is a board-certified, fellowship-trained non-operative sports medicine specialist. Dr. Remias attended the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine for his doctoral degree. He then completed a residency in Family Medicine and a fellowship in Sports Medicine at Presence Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago, IL. Following his fellowship, Dr. Remias served on an American Indian reservation in Tohatchi, NM as well as in Crownpoint, NM where he provided medical care to the Navajo Indian population. After this time, he began his practice as a sports medicine and urgent care physician with Ascension St. Vincent’s where he served the local Jacksonville community for five years.
Dr. Remias continues to be an active member of the Jacksonville community and has participated in the Ascension St. Vincent’s Medical Mission at Home, which provides free medical care to those who have limited access. Dr. Remias has served as the team physician for local high schools including First Coast Christian Academy and Nease High School. Prior to moving to Jacksonville, he also served as the team physician for North Park University in Chicago, IL. Dr. Remias is a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, American College of Sports Medicine, American Academy of Family Physicians, and Florida Academy of Family Physicians.
In his free time, Dr. Remias enjoys performance training, playing golf and basketball, car detailing, coffee, and Turfgrass Science.

Dr. Remias is our go-to orthopedic doctor. He is extremely knowledgeable and takes the time to listen carefully. For my wife he correctly diagnosed and treated a long-standing problem and she now feels better than she has in years. Recently, he diagnosed the cause of ongoing ankle pain I have been having. This doctor is worth all the five star reviews he gets!!! We actually drive 1 and a half hours just to see him. That's how much we like and respect him.

Dr. Remias was very professional and helpful and caring at our meeting today. He was not pleased with the x-ray results and suggested an MRI. He asked how I felt about that. He was sympothytic to my pain. He wrote down instructions as to what I was to do to until our next appointment. I felt better after leaving Dr. Remias that he understand my issues and that he was doing everything possible to make it not only better but well.

Went to see Dr. Remias in regard to a swelling in my ankle and leg. I work out 5-6 hours a wk; so wanted to get an X-ray. The ankle was fine and factoring abnormal leg swelling, he in a very good way, suggested heading to the emergency room where the diagnosis was DVT; or blood clot. Dangerous stuff. Fantastic Experience. I did not have an appointment and was experiencing some pain in my left knee. The knee that was surgically repaired a few years ago. Upon arriving I was given an I-pad to fill my insurance and personal information. After completing the form I was immediately taken in for x-rays and within minutes after that I was called to see the Doctor. He’s always fast paced, but the 5-10 minutes you have him in the room with you he is zero’d in on you. Very sharp, very energetic, and no bs. Dr. Remias, might be the best doctor I’ve had at 40 years old. Having lived in 6 states and a dozen towns, he’s been the best. Takes great notes, and again he never appears distracted, or working in parallel. When he’s with you it’s clear he is 100% focused on you. He works fast, but not rushed. so if you have something to say get it out. I wish I could take his office with me everywhere I go. I was on vacation from NYS when I experienced sudden sharp pains in my right shoulder. I didn’t want to go to an emergency room as it would take a long time to be seen. I found Southeastern Orthopedic Specialists on Google. Walk ins welcomed. I went to the St. Augustine location. The front staff and X-ray technician were wonderful and helpful. I was then seen by Dr David Remias who was quick to see me. He listened to all my complaints and did a thorough exam. He determined it was a calcium deposit and asked if I wanted an injection. I quickly agreed. Dr Remias was very kind and did the injection procedure gently. I have had calcium deposits before and most of the orthopedic doctors were not gentle and the injection was always dreadful. Not at this visit! What a world of a difference! Dr. Remias was excellent. In a brief tome he (aided by some assistants)showed me the actual Xrays of my knees. He explained what was happening very, very well. He gave me a number of option and ai chose injection with various mechanical options as possibilities. He signed me up for a follow-up in a month. He also referred me to their physical therapy unit. My first PT session is in 2 days. I was very much surprised by the efficient and caring treatment I received from everyone in the office. First off, both of my knees are in pretty bad shape. I was so impressed with Dr Remias' knowledge as he was able to quickly AND painlessly relieve me of most of my pain with one injection! When he walked in he recited almost all of my pain related descriptions almost verbatim! Then he recommended the "I" word (injection) which immediately made me pre-cry just thinking about the inevitable pain. He assured me it would be painless because he is "that good" and I skeptically agreed. Much to my surprise, it did NOT hurt!!! I only felt a little pressure of the medicine and then he slapped a bandaid on it...easy peasy! I highly recommend Dr Remias for knee injury/pain. I was visiting St. Augustine from WI and felt a familiar meniscus tear. A relative of mine had seen Dr. Remias so I took my chances as a walk-in. I had x-rays within a half hour and saw the doctor in less than an hour. Everyone in every department was professional and courteous. The doctor was extremely personable and knowledgeable. I really enjoyed the early check-in online as I could put in as much info as I had available beforehand, spending less time writing it all down while in the office. The staff was attentive and informative, I barely waited three minutes before they were ready for my x-rays. As soon as those were done they were already ready for my next step of the initial exam. Cathleen listened to my concerns and made sure to clarify anything as needed. A few moments later and Dr. Remias came right in and after a few basic questions went right into my exam. I had been seen by urgent care a few days before with little relief and no diagnosis which left me feeling anxious about my issue as to what it could possibly be and what to do to help the painful symptoms. Doctor Remias was on time, greeted me with great enthusiasm and reviewed my previous appointment and the goals set for the physical therapy that I received over the last four weeks. This was my first time seeing Dr Remias but not my first time seeing an orthopedist for the same pain. He was very patient and listened to my entire story about my pain and symptoms and let me ask questions. I never felt rushed to get out the door and on to the next patient. I was concerned about that when I first walked into the waiting room because it was BUSY, but I think it was just because there are a lot of doctors practicing at that office. Dr Remias is very good, when I told him what is going on, he knew exactly what I was talking about. He did a sonogram and found the cyst and aspirated it. He put an injection of Gel in my knee which I need to go back for the second one. Both the aspiration and injection were totally painless. I fell off a step stool breaking two ribs in my back, also thought I had injured my shoulder, I didn't want to go to the hospital, due to so much covid. I had previously ( in May) seen Dr. Duffy, and Dr. Desmuck for a right knee, injury, and had a great experience so I called SE Ortho. and explained my situation begging to see someone that day. The lady said give her a minute then said ok Dr Remias could work me in at 12:30, I was so grateful. I have seen Dr. Remias twice, and was referred to SOS from my rheumatologist to tackle some issues with my hip related to autoimmune arthritis. He has been thorough and is great with explaining what’s going on as well as listening to my concerns. They have imaging on site which was helpful as well. The office staff here are really kind as well, and I haven’t had to wait long to be seen for either of my appointments. They are efficient but I still feel seen and my questions are answered well. I highly recommend!
