Dr. Alexander Lampley is a board certified, and fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon with subspecialty training in hand surgery. He attended and graduated from Bucknell University and Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, with honors. After studying orthopedic surgery at the esteemed Duke University Medical Center he completed a Hand and Upper Extremity fellowship with extensive training in microvascular surgery at the prestigious Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center in Indianapolis, IN.
Dr. Lampley specializes in treatments for both adult and pediatric disorders pertaining to the upper extremities, including the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand. He has a particular interest in sports-related injuries, peripheral nerve conditions, arthritis, and upper extremity reconstruction utilizing nerve and tendon transfers.
Dr. Lampley has been the recipient of many awards throughout his career including the James Urbaniak Research Excellence Award at Duke Medical Center, the 5th Annual Extremity Summit Best Resident Research Award, the Bucknell Men’s Water Polo Coaches Award, and numerous others. In addition to these awards, he serves as a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the Piedmont Orthopaedic Society.

I destroyed my left shoulder in a bicycle accident.. I needed an emergency surgery and he didn't have any openings for quite a while... He did his daily Business and booked the hospital after hours... Wasn't sure how he was going to fix it till he got in there... Great place, Very efficient. You can complete all the first time check in stuff from home online before the visit. Then you can check in at the office with no paperwork. Wait time was minimal. He recommended a course of PT to correct some of the muscle issues and pain I've had with increased handwriting as I went back to college. I arrived early for my appointment. The staff was still at lunch. As soon as they return I was promptly esorted to a exam room Dr. Lampley followed me into room. We discussed the procedure that he was going to perform and another procedure that he recommended that would be performed at the surgery center. Dr. Lampley is an AMAZING doctor! I received a bilateral endoscopic carpal tunnel release which basically just means I did both hands with an updated surgery including a camera with its a faster recovery time and less scars!! I am very happy with the whole process from start to finish. I always thought I am relatively too young for this surgery but the pain was just getting worse and worse. I went in not knowing what to expect. Dr Lampley was very informative and at the first appointment, we got x-rays done at the same location, which was very convenient and time efficient. there was nothing wrong in the x-rays and Dr Lampley Referred me for a nerve study. Once the nerve study came back with severe carpal tunnel, I went back to his office thinking surgery was the only option. I have a toddler at home and I was not ready for the surgery that month, which was February. he advised me that he can give me steroid (one time shot) and that helped my pain go away… for 3 months. My first experience was to say the least fantastic. I was very nervous and apprehensive when I arrived. All of that went away with the way the staff treated. In August, I fell and broke my wrist. I met Dr. Lampley during his first week in St. Augustine. I knew Dr. Stark who retired, and I was sad to see him go. I immediately grilled the new man on the block. Having 6 children, I felt that I could sense a keeper when I saw one. Dr. Lampley is every thing that I thought he would be. He successfully surgically repaired my wrist, saw me on 3 follow up visits, and I could not be more pleased. In addition, at 3 months, there is no trace of an incision (they must be teaching plastic surgery to the new docs!). My wrist mobility and range of motion is great. Dr. Lampley is the best. He is very thorough and exudes a very calming presence making it a very comfortable experience. I have received 2 cortisone shots in my hand in the past 6 months and he made the shots very easy to handle with very minimal pain. He also did my shoulder surgery and carpal tunnel surgery and my recovery was great, again with minimal pain. I have received Cortizone shots in the past few years from other doctors and they have been very painful, almost putting me in tears. I highly recommend Dr. Lampley. He is the best doctor around.
