Alex J. Brown, MD

Dr. Alex Brown is a board-certified and fellowship-trained non-operative sports medicine specialist. Dr. Brown has over 12 years of experience in an urgent care and family medicine setting, serving the Jacksonville community. Dr. Brown attended East Tennessee State University- Quillen College of Medicine for his Medical Degree. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Jewish Hospital of Cincinnati, which was followed by a Pediatric Sports Medicine Fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Brown has worked for many well-respected healthcare organizations in the Northeast Florida area, such as Ascension St. Vincent’s, and University of Florida Health. He brings a passion for treating patients’ symptoms thoroughly and conservatively.

Dr. Brown is an active member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, American College of Sports Medicine and the American College of Physicians.

In his free time, Dr. Brown enjoys running, helping to coach his children’s sports teams, and spending time with his wife and five children.

Wow, what a great staff and what an outstanding doctor. Dr. Brown is one of the most personable and delightful doctors I’ve had the good fortune to work with. He made the appointment interesting, fun, and productive. Additionally, as a patient, I felt he listened carefully and was very knowledgeable as well as terrific at explaining what my x-rays revealed and what the diagnosis meant. My daughter and I had a great experience at Dr. Brown’s office. Dr. Brown is an exceptional doctor, and I was really lucky that the scheduler sent me to the "wrong place". After the 2 months of misery, :,Care Spot, Baptist ER, and more, he removed my thumb nail in 15 minutes. He could send me away, but he decided to help. That happened yesterday, and today it's already huge improvement. Thank you Dr. Brown.

From the minute, we walked into the office his assistant was kind and spoke up so that my husband could hear her when she asked him questions. She was efficient and thorough. I was a walk-in and I got in quickly! Thank you for that! I did not feel rushed by anyone there. Dr. Brown is pleasant and very knowledgable of course! I will make one comment about talking about personal stuff at the front desk. I don't believe it's professional to do and I witnessed it today. Short wait. Very good manner by all personnel during visit. Physician Explained the nature of my injury over display of images. Ordered Immediate setup for meeting with surgeon. Both the Dr. Alex Brown & his assistant Tess were personable & knowledgeable.Dr. Brown explained why he thought that a cortisone shot would help alleviate my pain symptoms after looking at the X-ray images that were taken. My son had an incident at school involving his knee. Dr Brown did an excellent job diagnosing and explaining to us what the issue was and what his treatment options were. My son particularly enjoyed the mini anatomy lesson Dr Brown provided in his explanation. Weeks later, he still recounts Dr Brown’s definition of his PCL, LCL, ACL and MCL. His courteous staff provided us with letters for the school to limit his activity during recovery and to reactivate him in sports after he had recovered.

I never write reviews, but my experience at SE Ortho Mandarin was the best I have ever experienced at a doctors office. Dr. Brown is so friendly and very caring. I was a walk in to get x-rays for a possible broken toe. I was immediately greeted, x-rayed, and seen by Dr. Brown. The whole process took 45 mins start to finish, and I was out the door! Thank you so much for your greatness. It is difficult to find people who care about their work. You are an A+++++. Could not ask for more!

Awesome provider with a great bedside manner and sense of humor. Dr. Brown saw me as a walk-in after I had rolled my foot earlier that day and was unable to walk. Even as a walk-in late on a Friday, I never felt rushed. He took his time answering questions about the diagnosis (broken cuboid bone) and had great empathy for the pain I was feeling along with the fact I was going to have to wear a boot for 6+ weeks. He and his staff made my experience at the South Side Clinic an extremely positive one, I would highly recommend!! Thanks again!!

I saw Dr Brown due to an emergency situation. When I called in, the staff set me an appointment within an hour of my call. Although I was the last patient of the day, and it was beyond 'closing time', he, and the whole staff, treated me as though my health was far more important than quitting time.Dr Brown spent a good deal of time discussing my diagnosis and explaining next steps. I felt confident in his recommendations, and left with a temporary solution to pain relief and an ongoing plan for long term care. He, and all the staff, were professional, knowledgeable and caring. My thanks to him and all the staff for making my experience such a positive one.I would highly recommend Dr Brown to any friends or family in need.

Wonderful doctor. He explained everything he was doing and why. I had a bike fall and went somewhere else having only x-rays and left. After a week, only feeling worse, I was a walk in here and was taken rather quickly. They did an ultrasound and had me sit with the doctor who explained what happened to my knee after the fall. Prescribed meds, given authorization for a temporary handicapped display card and given instructions along with a follow up appt. Staff also were very helpful. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a sports doctor.

I went in for an issue on my middle finger (trigger finger) and let me tell you my experience first off how attentive the staff is how quickly I was check in and how knowledgeable the Doctor is and straight forward in all the answers of the questions I had for him I got an injection today and I thought it was going to be very painful but I did not feel the injection at all Dr. Brown has a very good hand didn't feel nothing would definitely recommend him 100%.

I can’t say enough about this office what a friendly crew! I went on my lunch break because I couldn’t stand the agonizing pain in my knee any longer, which has been going on for about 10 months. I found out that Southeast orthopedics has two walk-in locations I went to the one in Mandarin and was assigned to Dr Brown! He sat and listened to all my woes, pains and corny jokes about the pain! He was very thorough in the examination put me right into the x-ray machine and found out that I had a pretty good case of arthritis in my knee. Gave me a steroid shot and a game plan for what would happen next if this did not work. Explained everything in detail, and I can’t thank him enough as I try to heal this knee! SOS, Mandarin rocks! By the way, did I mention I was in an out within an hour and a half when I intended or thought that I would be there a lot is walking in the door.
