F. Andrew Rowan
MD
Dr. F. Andrew Rowan is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in spine surgery. He is passionate about helping patients feel their best and is actively involved in medical education. He previously served as an Assistant Professor of Orthopedics and Spine Surgery at IU Health, where he had been a faculty member since 2017.
Dr. Rowan earned both his medical degree and a master’s in applied anatomy from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. His training took him across the country—from an internship at the University of California, San Francisco, to a residency at the University of Arizona, where he served as Chief Resident. He completed his education with a competitive spine surgery fellowship at the University of California, Davis.
Throughout his career, Dr. Rowan has contributed to the medical community through teaching, research at top institutions like the Cleveland Clinic, and organizing professional events such as the 2024 Indiana Orthopedic Society Meeting. He has received several academic honors, including the NIH T-35 Research Grant and the Pfizer Undergraduate Research Fellowship.
However, what drives him most is helping people move better and live pain-free.
Outside the operating room, Dr. Rowan enjoys family time with his wife and kids, especially while cheering on their children at competitive after-school sports.
