Dr. Aaron Bates is a board-certified fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine. He received his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at UF Health in Jacksonville, FL, and later completed a fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX.
Previously, Dr. Bates served as the team physician for the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Jacksonville Sharks. During his medical training he helped to cover the Houston Astros and the Houston Texans. Currently, Dr. Bates is the team physician for Clay County high schools.

I had an excellent knee surgery with Dr. Aaron Bates. Dr. Aaron Bates is with Southeast Orthopedic Specialists Fleming Island. He is a board-certified fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine. I had injured my knee 17 months ago and had an MRI taken 3 months after that injury. I did not realize that I had injured my knee even more 6 months ago. The MRI did not reflect the latest injury. When Dr. Bates did my surgery he realized more was wrong than what the MRI indicated. He noticed what was wrong and he corrected it. I was better after the surgery and I continue to improve. I was very impressed that he called me later that day after my surgery to simply ask me how I was doing. Everyone was straightforward, professional, polite, and accomodating. This is the best medical anything place I’ve been to in the Jacksonville and Orange Park area, with efficiency we expect from medical professionals. Their waiting room works with 10x the people and gets them through the same time or faster than other places which have only a handful pf people. The contrast is striking. This should be the standard, but the standards are so low these days that this place seems like an exceptional diamond in the rough.
